When school has been difficult, families want more than a different classroom. They want their child to feel understood, build positive relationships, and make progress in learning.

At Insightful Minds, we bring individualized academics together with experiential learning, social-emotional instruction, and consistent behavioral support. We get to know students’ strengths and interests while helping them develop the skills to navigate challenges and take an active role in their education.

Our community pairs caring relationships with clear expectations, creating opportunities for students to experience success, contribute, and grow in confidence.

A community where your child is known.

Belonging develops through everyday experiences: an adult who listens, a shared interest, a successful collaboration, or an opportunity to help someone else.

We create opportunities for students to build trusting relationships with staff and peers. Classroom projects, group activities, and community involvement help students discover where they can contribute and feel connected.

When relationships become challenging, we help students practice respectful communication, understand different perspectives, and repair connections.

Our goal is for students to feel valued for who they are while developing skills that help them participate more successfully.

Small classrooms. Purposeful support.

Classrooms typically serve 8–12 students, supported by content teachers, intervention specialists, and educational aides.

This setting gives educators opportunities to know students well, adapt instruction, and provide guidance during academic and social challenges.

Each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP), current skills, and learning needs guide instruction, accommodations, and services. Support may address academic skills alongside organization, task initiation, attention, flexibility, and self-advocacy.

We help students recognize their strengths, understand the supports available to them, and take increasing ownership of their learning.

Academics

Academics that connect with interests and everyday life.

Students deserve meaningful academic instruction that challenges them and responds to how they learn.

Our educators connect standards-based learning with hands-on projects, student interests, collaborative activities, and practical applications. Adapted instruction and accommodations help students access learning and work toward individualized goals.

Learning experiences may include:

  • Reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies.
  • Projects that develop research, creativity, planning, and problem-solving.
  • Activities that connect academic concepts with everyday situations.
  • Collaboration that builds communication and teamwork.
  • Practice with organization, time management, and completing assignments.
  • Opportunities to explore interests and develop confidence as a learner.

Planning toward graduation

For high school students, families need to understand how daily learning connects with completing school.

Our team discusses applicable coursework, credit requirements, graduation expectations, and individualized supports with families and referring districts, as appropriate. Planning considers the student’s educational progress, IEP goals, interests, and next steps.

During the admissions process, families can discuss how their child’s existing records and educational pathway would connect with programming at Insightful Minds.

Compassion, clear expectations, and consistent guidance.

Students need to feel accepted. They also need predictable routines, appropriate boundaries, and help understanding how their choices affect others.

Our approach draws on positive behavior supports, trauma-informed practices, Conscious Discipline, mindfulness, and restorative practices. We teach expectations directly, provide opportunities to practice, and guide students through challenges.

We pair understanding with accountability. Difficult moments become opportunities to teach, problem-solve, and prepare for a more successful next attempt.

Support focuses on helping students:

  • Recognize emotions and use coping strategies.
  • Communicate needs and ask for assistance.
  • Respect personal space, boundaries, and shared environments.
  • Navigate friendships and disagreements.
  • Use respectful language and resolve conflict.
  • Take responsibility and repair harm.
  • Develop alternatives to behaviors that interfere with learning.

Our campus

Four buildings. One connected school community.

Insightful Minds occupies four buildings on the Broadview Heights city campus.

Across our learning spaces, students have opportunities to engage in academics, explore interests, develop relationships, and practice greater independence.

Shared activities and community experiences help students apply what they are learning beyond a single classroom and see themselves as part of a broader community.

Life beyond school

Preparing for life beyond school.

Academic learning is one part of preparation for the future. Students also need opportunities to understand themselves, navigate responsibilities, and identify what support helps them succeed.

Planning reflects each student’s strengths, preferences, educational goals, and support needs. We work with students and families to connect current learning with their next stage of education, employment, or community life.

As students grow, learning and planning may include:

  • Exploring personal interests and future goals.
  • Developing work habits and vocational interests.
  • Practicing organization, planning, and time management.
  • Communicating needs and requesting accommodations.
  • Participating in community activities and service.
  • Strengthening decision-making and everyday problem-solving.

Families are part of the community.

Your perspective helps us understand your child’s experiences, strengths, and needs.

We welcome family input and share information about academic progress, participation, successes, and concerns. Conversations about educational goals help us identify useful strategies and adjust support.

During enrollment, we explain communication methods, progress reporting, and opportunities to meet with your child’s team. We also collaborate with referring districts and other authorized professionals, as appropriate.

We want families to feel comfortable asking questions, sharing concerns, and celebrating progress together.

Admissions and funding

We welcome inquiries from families and school districts throughout the year.

The admissions process includes a conversation about the student, an opportunity to visit, review of relevant educational records, and discussion of program fit, availability, and funding.

Eligible students may access the Ohio Autism Scholarship Program or Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship Program. School districts may also contact us to discuss placement arrangements.

Our team explains applicable funding options and anticipated costs before enrollment.
