Educational programs
Our educational programs focus on instruction, school participation, and academic and functional skills, guided by each student’s educational needs and IEP.

Specialized learning. Individualized support. Possibilities for every stage.
Finding the right support begins with people who see your child’s strengths and understand their needs. At STEPS, we build trusting relationships and create opportunities to learn, communicate, connect, and develop greater independence.
Our three educational programs collectively serve students ages 3–22 with different learning and support needs. STEPS Institute for Child Development provides separate clinical ABA services for children ages 3–11 diagnosed with autism or related developmental differences.
Serving families throughout Greater Cleveland and Northeast Ohio, with locations in Parma, Broadview Heights, and Olmsted Township.

Our Approach
Progress can look like asking for help, joining a classroom activity, navigating a disagreement, preparing a meal, or completing a routine with less assistance.
Across STEPS, we connect learning with opportunities to communicate, participate, make choices, and build independence.
We get to know each learner’s strengths, interests, communication, and support needs. That understanding shapes how we teach, adapt activities, and support participation.
Depending on the program, teachers and intervention specialists work alongside speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, music therapists, and behavioral professionals. Services are individualized according to each learner’s educational or clinical plan.
We build trust, teach expectations, and provide consistent guidance. Students have opportunities to connect with others, contribute to their community, and take pride in their progress.
Your knowledge of your child matters. We listen to your priorities, welcome questions, and work together to understand progress and prepare for next steps.
Understanding the difference
Our educational programs focus on instruction, school participation, and academic and functional skills, guided by each student’s educational needs and IEP.
Clinical ABA through STEPS Institute addresses assessed clinical needs through an individualized treatment plan overseen by a BCBA.
A practical starting point
You don’t need to choose a program before contacting us.
Share their strengths, current challenges, and what you hope will be different.
We’ll discuss potential program fit, availability, and opportunities to visit, meet staff, and ask questions.
Our team will explain the records, meetings, funding questions, or clinical assessments needed before enrollment or services begin.
Educational funding options may include the Ohio Autism Scholarship Program, Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship Program, or school district placement arrangements, depending on eligibility and program.
Clinical ABA coverage is reviewed separately and depends on your insurance plan, provider participation, and authorization requirements. Our team helps families understand the process and anticipated costs.
I just wanted to say how thankful I am for everyone at STEPS! It’s amazing to see how many skills my son has gained since he started attending. He loves coming to school, has made friends, has become more independent, and has learned new skills…that’s because of the dedicated staff members! I truly appreciate all of your compassion, patience, and dedication! You allow him to be himself. Thank you for making such a positive difference in his life and mine! As an overprotective mommy, I feel totally at ease and comfortable knowing he is safe and happy when he’s at STEPS. You are all amazing!!!
I don’t even know where to begin. All the teachers are amazing! They have helped my son fall in love with school again. I am so completely beyond thankful for each and every one of them.
There are not enough words to express our appreciation to this school and my son’s teachers. As parents of an autistic child, it’s extremely hard for us to trust anyone with our son. This school and all of the teachers in my son’s Pre-k class are incredible and absolutely hold our trust and appreciation. Everyone is so nice and helpful. I wish I could give everyone a hug and a million-dollar raise.
“Establishing trusting relationships and developing communication skills are the building blocks to uncovering the passions and talents of the student, and guide our students to develop a sense of purpose and belonging.”
“STEPS Academy’s rich, positive learning environment fosters growth, independence and meaningful connections with others.”
“Students are empowered to reach their greatest potential.”
